Cancer to Rise Due to Affluence - Another Socialist Research Ploy Indeed

Not long ago, I was watching a TED Video and there was a gentleman from India discussing diseases, health care, and all the challenges that they face in their country. Once upon a time, they had to deal with poor people's diseases, things that occur when the water isn't clean, diseases from mosquitoes, and those things that go along with lack of nutrition or starvation. Today, he noted that as India's people are becoming more affluent, they also have rich man's diseases.

What sorts of diseases are those you ask? Well, how about diabetes for instance, what about heart disease, and things of this nature. Due to their simple and humble diet, they didn't have much problem with heart disease, and there weren't any obese people in India. As they become wealthier, they are able to eat more, and they are getting themselves into these wealthy type diseases.

MSNBC had a rather telling article posted on June 1, 2012, on a Friday Night, which is a common trick of the socialist PR propaganda machine with no one around to refute the article or in this case the junk science involved here, let me explain. You see, the article was titled; "Cancer cases to surge 75 percent worldwide by 2030," which appears to be originating from Reuters but truly looks like an AP weekend hack job and hit piece, a real anti-Western world, anti-Capitalism jab. The article stated;

"Cancer will surge by more than 75% across the world by 2030, with particularly sharp rises in poor countries as they adopt unhealthy "Westernized" lifestyles. Many developing countries were expected to see a rise in living standards in coming decades (WHO Research Paper posted to their website) according to the IARC (International Research on Cancer in Lyon, France."

Now then, I have a little bit of a problem with that last bit of information, and let me tell you why. When people live longer, they are more likely to get cancer. As the health care system gets better, they are more typically able to be diagnosed with cancer due to better hospital equipment, and more information. We don't know if people in the past had cancer, as they probably died of something else first. Now there are also more environmental cancers, of course some of that occurs due to industrial pollution, and the fact that there are far more people than there ever were before in the same area.

Further, there will be more cancer as pollutants get into the nearby ocean where fishermen grab their fish. But to say that increases in cancer are due to Western lifestyles, well, I question that. I especially question that when it comes from a socialist left leaning researcher from France, trying to prove a point that capitalism is bad, and Western lifestyles are not so good either. I would submit to you that Western lifestyle is fine, as long as one doesn't overindulge, of course there is a choice, something that the poor folks in India never had up until now. Okay so, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
